For over a year the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB) worked on the development of a new website as part of a broader campaign to repackage its marketing efforts under the PHL brand. MTM LinguaSoft presented a successful proposal for website globalization and was brought in early in the process to work with the PHLCVB staff and their digital agency, MMGY Global, to consult on the process. The new website was officially unveiled earlier this year with its major sections translated into four languages: French, German, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese. (Other languages appear in the site’s language menu, but they link to earlier versions of the website.)
For the MTM LinguaSoft team it was an opportunity to work out a process for dealing with a different content management system, Umbraco, an open source CMS, and to make good use of a recently adopted computer aided translation (CAT) tool, which greatly simplified the process of translating tagged files. The whole project involved translation and proofreading of over 60,000 words and review and testing of the foreign-language sites before the new site was officially unveiled in April 2013.
