bloomingdale's logoOver the past several years, MTM LinguaSoft has become the go-to source for translation and layout of Bloomingdale’s advertising to attract foreign visitors to stores in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Miami, and Honolulu. Projects have included translation of floor plans, advertisements, hotel referral cards, e-coupons, and landing pages. We’ve translated Bloomingdale’s material into Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.

The work has been challenging because of the short turnaround time required by our client. In addition to translation of the text, we provide multilingual desktop publishing (DTP) to reformat the materials for each new language.  Translations for marketing and advertising need to match the tone of the originals—this often requires “transcreation” by translators with copywriting skills. Transliteration of the many brand names into languages such as Arabic, Chinese, and Japanese was also an issue. Some brand names have generally accepted transliterations, while others are recognized in foreign languages by their English names.
