Eastman is a global specialty chemical company that produces a broad range of advanced materials, additives and functional products, specialty chemicals, and fibers that are found in products people use every day. With sales offices, service centers, and manufacturing facilities around the world, Eastman is faced with the need to train a global workforce in a variety of subjects from legal requirements to office and manufacturing procedures. To do this, Eastman has created a series of e-learning courses using the e-learning authoring software ToolBook. When looking to hire an e-learning localization company, Eastman went searching for an agency that had experience with the ToolBook Translation System (TTS). They didn’t have to look far. The software seller himself, who had knowledge of our specific expertise in localizing modules created using ToolBook, recommended MTM LinguaSoft.
The initial courses to be localized dealt with issues in global business conduct, such as conflict of interest, personal conduct, reporting integrity, fraud awareness, and antitrust. Our first localization project was to translate them into Brazilian Portuguese. Satisfied with the results of that project, Eastman came back to MTM LinguaSoft to translate the same courses into Mexican Spanish, Japanese and Malay. Subsequent courses have involved subjects such as records and information management, data security, and protecting trade secrets, and have been translated into as many as 11 languages—the languages listed above, as well as Dutch, French, German, Korean, Russian, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese.
