MTM LinguaSoft recently completed a major e-learning localization project for GlaxoSmithKline. The course involved training in ergonomics for office workers and included four parts: The e-learning module itself; a short multiple choice test; a self-risk assessment and a user action report with recommendations for the individual – all of this to be translated into 10 languages: French, German, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese.
The entire project spanned several months and the MTM LinguaSoft team collaborated closely with the client and the client’s vendor partner, an e-learning developer in the UK. We were able to leverage a previous generic translation that the e-learning vendor had produced for the public by using it to create an initial translation memory or TM for the client’s portal, which included some recycled content. Translation and proofreading of all the materials required the project manager to coordinate a minimum of 20 linguists. Finally, MTM LinguaSoft coordinated localization testing of the site by its linguists.
